Inference: In order to be great at something, an individual would have to have enthusiasm and the right passion for what they wish to do. For example, if you would like to get into a good college, without the passion and diligence along with enthusiasm, one would not get very far because most likely, you would get bored and not get through with it.
"Death with dignity is better than life with humiliation." — Husayn ibn Ali
Inference: This aphorism means that if you live your life in shame, that is worse than dying with having your original principles and morals. This also relates to The Crucible because John Proctor, in the end, would have had his life taken away with his dignity and pride rather than living with shame.
"Greed is a permanent slavery." — Ali
Inference: If you are in constant greed and is persistently trying to get something better than what you have, you will be confined in an atmosphere where you will only get caught up with the things you desire, not what you have and should be content with. Slavery, in general terms, means lack of freedom and this aphorism is trying to prove that greed actually brings the idea of taking away your freedom because you are always trying to get something better instead of being comfortable in your own atmosphere.
